adidas x Arsham Futurecraft 4DBeginning in 2017, Arsham worked with adidas on a series of three shoes, aptly titled Past, Present and Future. These three sneakers looked to the history of adidas, the present moment and the future of sneaker design in the monochromatic, paired down manner typically found in Arsham’s work. The final sneaker debuting in 2018, the adidas x Arsham Futurecraft 4D featured a 3D printed outsole - a revolutionary technology in the world of footwear - all in a tonal aerogreen colorway with a UV printed overlay. The sneaker came housed in die-cut foam complete with matching socks and art-handling gloves - elevating the unboxing experience to that of fine art.
For the release of the Arsham Futurecraft 4D, adidas and Arsham took over New York City’s Metrograph Theater to debut the sneaker and the accompanying film. The theater was transformed exclusively for the event into an all adidas and Arsham space - with custom concessions goods and photo ops. From Arsham Pocari Sweat and Pocky Sticks to Arsham Milk Bar Cookies and chocolate cast sneakers, no stone was left unturned in branding the event.
Coinciding with each sneaker release, Arsham and adidas produced a series of short films furthering the time traveling concepts at play.
